Array Not really sure how to help you on this without more info...
You say that you re-wired the balde... did you replace the springs in the point also? Does the blade pass the shim test?
Is it YOUR light that is registering, or your opponents?
Does this happen when the blade is beaten in a horizontal strike, or when your opponents point impact the bell guard? "Rub her feet!" - Lazarus Long, Time enough for Love, Robert A. Heinlein "Never moon a werewolf."

1- Your weapon registers a hit when subjected to a beat (lateral impact on the blade itself):
You have a short somewhere in your weapon.
Follow-up tests:
a) Remove the tip (check for debris such as metal slivers) and retest. If the test is unaffected by this, you have eliminated tip problems.
b) Holding the weapon still, wiggle the body cord where it plugs in to the bracket inside the guard. If this does not cause random lights, you have eliminated body cord issues.
c) Inspect the bracket (where the body cord plugs into the weapon). Verify that the wires are not crossing there.
At this point then, you have a short circuit somewhere in your wiring. This is generally bad, as is usually means rewiring the blade.
The most common location for this short is usually inside the barrel, just underneath the cup (where the wires terminate to from the contacts).
How to avoid this when wiring a blade (what works for me):
- Thread the wire through the barrel as usual. Do not pull the cup into the barrel yet.
- Lay the wires into the groove at the tip threads.
- Wrap one layer of teflon tape around the tip threads, securing the wires in place (should be able to pull the wires up or down, but not out of the groove.
- Screw the barrel onto the blade. As you do this, make sure the wires are not caught in the threads (the teflon tape helps with this) and are still mobile.
- Tighten the barrel onto the threads (This is where the breaks/shorts usually happen, hence the tape).
- Carefully pull the wire through the barrel and seat the cup firmly (with the help of a Qtip or other tool), but not with too much force.
- Proceed with applying the glue as usual.
2- Your opponent's weapon registers when hitting your guard:
Check your guard for rust, paint, tape, anything that can impede electrical flow. Also check that the C plug on the bracket is electrically connected to the guard.
That's all I can think of right now.
Hope this helps. -
