    Lengths of A, B & C lines

    Dave, Tim, Donald, et al...

I'm working on a teammate's weapons prior to the Jr. World Cuo next month and am having a brain fart.

What's the allowable length of the A, B & C lines on a foil body cord? I seem to remember Donald Clinton saying 40cm for the A line, but I may not be remembhering it correctly.

Also (brain fart again), allowable curvature is 2 cm for foil, right?
Need fencing equipment? See me at H.O.M. Fencing Supply

Going to your first tournament? Read "Choose yer weapon, Laddie (or: Dude, where's my foil?)"

Article m.29 for the foil body cord question.

A line is 40 cm I cut at 45cm to allow for repair,
B @ C Line as no measureable length. I custom make
for pepole with longer arm lengths that the standard bodycords are to short. 2cm is the maxiuam allowable bend in a foil blade.

Sam since he is going to world cup. That means a full weapon check. They are more then likely run everthing though the box, check the blade length the flexable of the blade size of the bell guard handle. Another a full FIE weapons check.

Full weapons check at every FIE tournement? Heh, heh, heh... The bodycord check is either non-existent or they pick it up and mark it with a marker - tada, you just past, your body cord may not actually have both end attached. Just to say an FIE sanction doesn't actually mean strenuous enforcement of armory etc. - just ask everybody who's gone to the Montreal World Cup - no weapons check at all prior to the tournement and a stamp done with a sharpie.

Typically, the only tournaments where you have to contend with a full out spec-check on weapons and bodycords are Senior World Champs. and Jr./Cadet World Champs. The equipment check done at NACs is more extensive than what will be found at most World Cups.

First time (and only time so far) that I had to have everything checked out (weapons, cords, masks, etc.) was at Canadian Nationals. Usually, only masks get checked at most tournaments around here.

David remenber this if Dan is the Head Tech it might just be a full weapons check. That one of the first thing Ted said to me was full FIE check. But more then likely it will be mask lame and bodycords.

All Australian circut comps have full weapons check, weapons, mask (visual inspection only), lame, bodycords. On the strip we get checked for plastrons as well.

Don't expect a full control at any World Cup, but plan for it.

Length is the easiest to check for, measure 88cm (Sabre) 90cm (Foil/Epee) from the end of the table and put tape there (I would actually measure it to 87.5 & 89.5 for the strengthener) and any weapon that goes over the mark, shorten.

As far as the body cord, a minimum of 40cm on A, longer is no problem as long as you keep the resistance down (<= 1ohm). Yes and 2cm on the curve.
