I have about a year and a half until my E05 in foil lapses and dies. Everyone keeps telling me that I should fence foil just for fun at all these tournaments. I just don't like foil and I'm afraid I'll get my C07 or something of that matter and everyone will say 'See, you're good at foil. You should fence it more often just for fun!' The thing is, "foil" and "fun" can't be put in the same sentence together. I think the head coach has given up on me... I think. Anyone else have ratings they would give away if they could?

ratings mean nothing. the system is too flawed to put any stock into tying a letter with your skill level.

Don't give into peer pressure. They kept pressuring me to do foil after I quit but they stop after a while when they see that you NEVER fence foil.

hey i've got an E in foil i'm getting rid of (E04 i think..can't remember, ). for some reason i think i'd be much better than an E in foil if i was to somehow make it back into a USFA event. i often wonder what my rating would be if i had continued on in the USFA events....

Why do your teammates think you should fence foil? Are you really a foilist deep down inside and just afraid to admit it?

How horrible. I've seen this a few times, when a kid comes along with real talent, fences a weapon well and someone rates him.... but wait! He hasn't made his decision yet, he's still young and want to try epee or saber!!! But wait, his coach is into foil, or one of the other weapons. What can you do as a fencer, who wants to fence, loves the exercise, the fun part, but has not made up his or her mind about weapons!!!

Akkkkkk! I don't know. Follow your instincts. Some say "stay in one weapon and master it' others say, 'there's no such thing as 'mastering' a weapon, there's always something new to learn; others say, try foil and epee, others say 'stay in a ROW weapon, others say "it depends on your brain, your ability, and your age'. But one thing I do know.....

If that was an actual call, that referee would definitely qualify as "stinky."
