    Negrini body cords

At summer nationals I saw that Amfence has Negrini bodycords for $30. They showed me how the elecrical wires wrap around a separate steel wire that give the cord more structure. He also said the ends are soldered to the pins, tho I don't know if they use screws to secure them too. I should have looked more closely.

They looked very well made, and look to be a very good alternative to the sometimes shaky Ulhmanns.

Tho I'm still happy with my bayonet Leon Pauls <knock on wood>.

They are very soild bodycords wire. The wire is what they used for lamp cords. I have some that were made in 1984 and we are still using them today. The connections are solider to the pins and are less likely to break

The problem with solder connections is that when they do break, it's not a quick fix for the overwhelming majority of fencers who do not carry a soldering iron or torch with them. Even if you do have one, it's still more time consuming than just tightening the screw (i.e., less likely that you'll be able to do it between rounds). This is one instance where I think that ease-of-repair outweighs frequency-of-repair.
