You can get free shipping if it's your first order after creating the account or if your total order is $175 or more.
Also, buying by clicking through from this site (link in my signature) shows Nike that the order came from the Fencing.Net community. If enough of the % of orders are coming from Fencing.Net, then it increases the chances for getting a fencing retailer to carry them.
I'm in the Seattle airport now waiting for my Beijing flight. I'll do more on this later.
The only ones left in my size are the Granbassi pink ones :-/
This is not exciting.
Dude the pink is hot. I'd rock them.
I guess I'm going to have no luck getting someone to trade me a pair of the all blues for a blue and white huh?

Well, after reading most of this thread this morning, I saw a bill board advertising the Nike Pegasus. The catch line was " Run like Alan Webb. Only slower. - Nike Pegasus"
That echoed my thoughts at seeing the Ballestra. You know, will it make me fence better? Will I feel like a little kid who thinks new tennies will make him a faster runner?
In other words, with the Ballestra, should the tag line be:
"Fence like (insert name of favorite elite fencer ) , only worse"?

I don't think anyone excited about these shoes really thinks it will make them any better. I'm hoping it doesn't change my footwork at all, and I don't see how it would.
What it will do is be more comfortable, look better, last longer, and protect my feet better than what I have now. Are those not good reasons to buy a pair?
Ah, have some fun with this. I think it's cool there is a new shoe to consider - one that designed just for fencing and comes in a selection of colors. ( even if they are a bit rich for me at the moment and aside from the fact that Nike's last is too narrow for me). I mean, no matter what one chooses, it is not "another pair of black shoes".
I was amused by the Pegasus tag line and how it would apply to any other athletic shoe.
I wear a size 13 in normal shoes, except for Nikes, which tend to run really narrow, so I wear a 14 Nike sneaker. Right now for fencing I'm wearing a 13 Hi-Tec which fits just right.
Someone mentioned that the Ballestra runs large- if I fit well in a 13 Hi-Tec, would a 12 Ballestra be about the same size? Or is it narrow like most other Nike shoes?
At this point my real problem is that I have super small feet and so I will be ordering a very small men's size, but I'm not sure which one. But honestly, if I have to buy 2 pairs and return one then that's fine with me.
I'd try the 13 Andrew....it would be a safe bet. I have a sneaking suspicion that says 12.5 to me though. However, I'm not a retail specialist nor have I discussed sizing with more than about 2-3 people (i.e. my sample size is way small and I'm not sure how wide everyone's feet are).
