| My Yankee fandom won't permit me to cheer for the Red Sox or even think they have a chance of winning. However, I also can't cheer for the Rockies, since Denver beat out Buffalo for expansion in 1993. I'm at a loss.

| I won't root for an American League team, in spite of being from New England, so it is the Rockies for me. Although I think the Sox can, and probably will, take it all. Lord, the Sox and the Pats, my family will be intolerable.
My six year-old is cheering for Boston, mostly because that is where his cousin lives and he likes thier hats. |

| As long as the Yankees aren't involved in the Series, either team can win and I'll be happy.
This time, though, I believe I'll support the senior league and the western team. Go Colorado!

2) Why would your family be intolerable with the Pats? The Pats are the REAL "America's Team," ... not the Cowpatties! Remember...9/11, and the PATRIOTS win it all for the first time. They're good guys. Their team symbol is a Patriot! |

But starting with the head coach, that team is surly, bitter, unsportsmanlike and plain mean-spirited. Look how they're running up the score on teams. Look how angry they are over the fact they GOT CAUGHT CHEATING! And the next time I hear someone from the Patriots play the "we've been disrespected" card, I'm going to throw up. If you really want to get behind a team, one that represents all that is good about sports, take a look at the Colts, especially, Tony Dungy. If you need convincing, check out Easterbrook's column on ESPN Page 2.

If you need convincing, check out Easterbrook's column on ESPN Page 2. | Matt...you know I have nothing but cute and cuddly love for the Bills. You remember what Han Solo said in episode 5? Leia had just called him something to the effect of "two-bit scruffy-looking nurf-herder." To which Han turns around and says "Hey...who are you calling 'scruffy-looking?'"
Surly and bitter, yes. Unsportsmanlike? If you're referring to videotaping, sure. Outside of that, I disagree. Mean-spirited? I don't think so.
Running up the score? I don't think they're doing that, per se. They pulled Brady this week at the beginning of the 4th quarter, and did lots of running, even though they don't have a running game. They only put Brady back in for one series after Cassel screwed up, then the third-string went in.
Do you doubt that the Pats could have scored close to 90 points this week if they hadn't let up at the half?
I think they ARE trying to get some records. Brady won't admit it. Belichick won't admit it. Any real Pats fan WILL admit it. Why not, though? Manning did it a couple of years ago.
And do you remember a couple of years ago when the Bills piled on the points against the Pats and beat them 31 to 0? (I think it was 31...it was in the 30s) They could have let up after they were ahead by three touchdowns, but they didn't. And the Pats have won SOME games by a mere 17 points!
Surly and bitter? You bet. And every one of us Pats fans who remember the old days...decades of being a laughingstock...are right there with our team.
Regarding the Colts...I take my wife's stance. Until recently, the Colts had a hard time competing because of Manning's greed. He had to have this contract which was so huge that the team could not afford a defense. And once he had that contract, what does he do? He goes off and earns millions and millions more as commercial boy. Meanwhile his poor teammates are trying to afford beans and rice on the NFL minimum wage. (Of course, they have since, finally, won a SB) OK...I hope you took at least part of this as tongue-in-cheek! |

2. My sports crazy family will insufferable with (possibly) two championship teams - again. Hope springs eternal for the Rockies because I don't think anyone is stopping the Patriots. I will be reminded, again and again, how my teams don't seem to ever pull it together. But hey, I'm from Philadelphia and have come to expect my teams to let me down. I would be surprised if any of them actually pulled off a championship - I am, for that reason, totally ignoring the Flyers becuase the winning will end soon enough.

| On the topic of running up the score I think Coach Bill put it best
"It was the first half!?!?"

That is, before the home teams started doing these unthinkable things, like winning the World Series or a couple of Super Bowls.
What these young bucks don’t remember are the years and years of enduring the Pats getting trounced, and rabidly following the Sox, regardless of how badly they did. And worse still was watching as our boys did phenomenally well – only to choke in the end. Which they always, always did. We expected it, we weren't surprised. It was like that kid you dated in high school… everything was hot and heavy and a hell of a ride, but at the end of the night, you knew you’d be going home unsatisfied. And in the end, you’d get your heart broken. Yep – those were the days of the Sox… before they got all cocky.
Call me crazy, but I lost some of my love for them in ’04. How do you back a winning team when you’re forever rooting for the underdog? (That’s not to say I don’t want them to sweep the Rockies, of course…)

| Being a Tigers fan myself I can only cheer for the Red Sox because they beat the Indians. I HATE THE INDIANS.

| And, of course, the Celtics might put together a run this year as well, after a long interlude of wandering in the wilderness of Front Office incompentence and abyssmal play.
I haven't followed basketball for a while, but Kevin Garnett playing for a team I like might be enough to draw me back this winter.
