I predict neither Getz or Meinhardt will make the 32.
Neither is on the confirmed entry list. I assume they don't need the points and could use a break. -
I predict that refs and teenage fencers will flock to a nearby Hooters b/c everything's bigger in Texas. I now dangle to the left....my tassle. Get your minds out of the gutter.

Umm hate to disappoint... but the ratio of Men to women in Silicon Valley is something like 10 to 1. I lived in Sunnyvale for 5 years. It was hell. I was surrounded by guptas, curry, sandalwood soap smells, and a Pacific Gas and Electric(PG@E) bill that just made me want to **** everytime I saw it. Notice I didn't mention p-tang.
If you want any of that fellas bring yer own. Ain't no such thing as indigenous...
They do have great sushi in the City.

Array It's improved since you were around. The ratio's something like 9.5 to 1.
Actually, I've been checking out the nightlife in downtown SJ around the convention center. It's pretty happening. Lots of streetwalking people (and I don't mean the professional kind, at least I can't tell), meaning a lively nightlife. There's also several dance places and brew houses (Gordon Biersch), top-marks hotels with fun things to do in the lobby.
I'd say it's Miami lite without the super-garish skants in the super-minis and high heels. (The minis are not so super in SJ, but there are some flesh displayed.) Certainly, the weather will be much better and no sudden downpours. There's no beach within walking distance of the venue, either, but there's a park (Guadalupe Park) and I'm guessing that's where they'll be hosting the fireworks display.
Lots of good restaurants around downtown SJ and I don't think they're in the same ballpark as Miami for the high prices. I'm figuring $55 for what you'd pay $80+ in Miami. -

Array I predict us refs won't be getting much sleep... jeez, people, 262 in JME? "If I were ever to challenge you to a duel, your best bet would be battle axes in a very dark basement." Misquoted from The Prisoner

If they stuck us with 36 strips, that would mean the event is flighted even without having any other events starting at all. I expect it'll take about 12 hours or so to run. -

Array SONUVAB****, I got my plane ticket for late that night. That is not good. At all. Oh well, we'll see if I'll need to switch it. Anyone know how Airlines usually are about calling and switching flights?

I miss those latenight (understatement) finish times.... *sigh*..... When you have three Romulan Warbirds blocking the escape route, Worf has an emotional breakdown about his childhood toy, Riker announces he's gay, Data's positronic brain gets a virus, and Geordi quits because he's had just one too many imminent warp core breach.... Just sit back, breathe, and follow these simple steps: -

Cadet Men's Foil and Cadet Women's Foil also are early starts on Sunday - so that's another 313 fencers - and another 46 strips required? -
