Reaction Timer

I am going to place my design ideas on the net and see if they are needed. If not, I will go back to making stained glass.

How about this: A reaction timer that SPEAKS the results in milliseconds. Just plug in your foil or epee, and clip it to your belt or body cord clip. The timer beeps a random number of mid tones and then a low tone. The timing starts at the low tone and ends when the weapon contacts a target. The timer then speaks the time in milliseconds, pauses a few seconds and begins again.

All I have to do is add a speech chip to the working design. What do you think?

I've played with something similar to this, but you're obviously way ahead of me on the curve.

You can attach a shot timer to to a small piece of plywood with the belt clip and set the sensitivity high. Set the tone to "random" and off you go. You can put a handle on it like a boxing target and have another fencer moving it so you can time redoubles and such.

It makes for a fun competition at the club.

The thin plywood will make enough noise to trip the shot timer. I really like your idea!

EDIT:

I might try taping a buzz box over the timer's mic to work like your idea. For voice recall, I'll have a newbie follow the fencer and read the numbers aloud.

Now you have me wanting to tear my shot timer apart! I'll hold off since it belongs to my employer. I'd be very interested in seeing your device.
