Not true. Blaise Zambini was .... not identified in any way for a while, and when he was finally described (as male), it was made clear -in the book- he's black.

I don't really remember ANY description in the books of Dean Thomas's skin color, which just means that it doesn't matter to anyone what his skin color happens to be.....
