| Reporting from Dallas So far, Dallas has been GREAT, except for fencing. Jr. MF was TOUGH. These are mustache and bearded >6 ft giants!!! To my little 15 y.o. barely fencing 3 years, these guys are MEN in white tights ready to come in for the kill!!! OY! And sooooooo many Canadians. A kid in my club had 5 Canadians in his POOL. Nothing against Canadians but I was surprised to see so many in one event.
Dallas has been a pleasant surprise so far. I feared that I'd be stuck taking taxis everywhere but the 4 block walk to the convention center from West End is nice. And yes, there are sidewalks. Pedestrian friendly? Well, if this is not pedestrian friendly, then, you haven't been to Atlanta or NYC. There are nice sidewalks and the distance to the venue is not that bad. And there's a shuttle service from West End to anywhere within 3 mile radius if you need it. I heard Hyatt is 7 blocks away but there's DART rail under the building to the venue one stop away and so is Adam's Mark. People here are so friendly too. 'Yes Ma'am' and 'Thank You Ma'am' kinda hospitality is good in my book! I'm use to blank stares.
The food is so cheap and very kids friendly. We went to Hoffbrau and Sonny Bryan's so far and both are under $20 per person with drinks -great BBQ and steaks (can't beat Prime Rib for $16). And the West End Market area where the restaurants are located is only 3 blocks away from the hotel.
I gotta look for a pair of cowboy boots today. |

| Where did you go for steaks? Sonny Bryan's? Today- Sat- is our "steak" day, so a good but moderately priced place would be nice. |

| Too tired, we found out Sonny Bryan's delivered, so we just got a huge amount of food delivered to the hotel. Very cheap, good deal.
Also, the Margarita Ball today (Sat) at the Adams Mark... I was told by a participant that it is the largest charity event in Dallas for the year... What a mess... big crowd... lots of high mileage women... tough place for a kid... |

| USFA web site says: "Sunday's results are delayed due to a hard drive failure on the computer that was running the tournament. We hope to have them posted in the next day or so."
Does anyone know the results of the Cadet MF? |

Also in top 8
Willette
Massialas
Nguyen
Not great detail, but the best I can remember given the state of my brain by the end of the day.
Bravo beat Nguyen in the 8, Goldstein over Khosh in the 4.

| Thanks! I am surprised that Goldstein won - I could have sworn I saw him lose to Willette in an earlier round. He was kicking his blade in disgust as I walked by. Maybe it was repechage or something. |

| Junior WS Junior Women's Saber:
1. Monica Aksamit
2. Alison Miller
5.Dominica Fransziskowicz
Others in the top 8 (though I can't remember the order, which is a sign of how fried my brain is, since I was running the event):
Falenica Miller
Stephanie Aiuto
Heather Nelson
Celina Merza
?? Gurrieri (sorry, can't think of her first name)
Also of note was Ms. Nichols, who was #81 out of the pools (the cut was between 82 and 83) and finished in the 17-24 bracket.

Mary | Although you may have been running the event I don't think your information is quite correct - at least judging from the phone call I got from my daughter. |

I can't believe I forgot Diamond! Definitely fried brains last night.
Interesting tournament--VERY large and then we had the fun of losing ALL of Sunday just before things finished up Sunday night, when the tournament master computer decided it was done with being functional. (At least we still have the paper, so it can all be reconstructed--it'll just take some time.)
