    Longhorn Predictions

Ok, here's your official Longhorn predictions, ramblings, results, and other assorted crap thread.

Looks like there's around 300 entries pre-registered for the different events... not bad. I just cant figure out why the Mens Foil is so small? Maybe some people are planning to crash the party without pre-registration? Where's Castellani, El-Saleh, Sutter, Shaito, Parkins?

Also, anyone know who'll be directing? Which vendors will be there?

I'll be reffing. The names you mentioned might be off on the Junior World Cup circuit, or maybe resting from it. You don't get many National points at local events.

Qualify for a World Cup and meet in DEs?

Besides, I'd bet you don't know the answer even if they did show up.

That's my problem. Shaito is just so afraid of me he won't show up at any tournaments I happen to be fencing foil in.

This thread should be moved to the tournament board. ... Assuming anyone cares about maintaining the forum structure.

    I'll be there as well.

Bring me your broke stuff; I'll be behind the armorer table with a screw driver in hand raising money (fees for repairs) for UT.

That's it, I'm done with the discussion forums on F.net. It's had its uses, but the ideologues, ranters, and "experts" have drowned too many of the conversations. I'm changing my password to something random and never logging in again.

There's 68 entries in the mens epee... no predictions? No one other than me wants to predict mens foil?

Dude, have you SEEN the results from the past couple of years? Trying to predict who will make the top 8 in ME of an SSCC event- you might as well pick names out of a hat! There's probably a good 18-20 fencers registered for that event who could make the top 8. However, since you insist .

    Nadeau, Kevin
    Reed, Robert
    Parker, Jonathan
    Kelley, Edward

And four others. And I'll bet one of those I just listed gets knocked out in the round of 16.

Word is that there will be an excellent ref crew (and I'm not among them - yea! I get to coach!).

Vendors will be non-existent, thanks to the UT Rec Sports department.

On one of our more local fora I've set up a "poll" for each of the six senior open events.

You have to be a member to vote in the poll (slows down duplicate voting) but anyone can just jump in on the discussion and general chatter.

I hope that Chafunkta is profet and is seeing the future! It's an Epee A4 tournament after all. I also don't think he needed to specify the name of a specific fencer who overtly has better talent than the fencer's father.

    Mens Foil:

I cant remember all the top 8 right now, but here's those I do:

    1. Morales (earns A)
    2. Rogers
    3. Nadeau
    3.
    5.
    6.
    7. Rodriguez
    8. Lo

I'm somewhat dissapointed since I lost to Morales (15-13) to get into the top 4. I was too aggressive, if I'd just sat back a little more and let my defense work I'm sure I could have won... but nooo.

Haha, you guys were so off on men's foil. Morales took first. He got his A07. Go Andy, go Andy. (Did you see the first place bout? Wow.) But I was also rooting for Nieto. I've known him several years. And Jno-Finn. But by the time I got there, they were both gone, unfortunately. I guess they didn't fence terribly well. I don't know the rest of the results. Does anyone have any of them? They aren't on 'fred.

Whoa, anyone else having a lot of lag or the server error? I'm having a bit of both. That sucks.
