Why fan polls are a flawed method of ranking

    http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/rankingsindex

    ESPNU Allstate Standings (Fan Poll)

    1. Illinois 5-2

While it gets more reasonable after that, it seems someone stuffed the ballot box for #1...

Given how unpredictable the season has been for everyone so far, maybe they're just predicting the future?

I'm looking forward to a University of South Floria - Hawaii BCS Championship game.

While Hawaii should run the table, I don't think that'll be enough to make the title game.

    USF-BC possibly.

    USF-LSU more likely.

If Hawaii runs the table, they might squeak into 12th place and get into a BCS game. Keep in mind, no matter how much the media may love Colt Brennan, their schedule is actually rated as weaker than some div I-AA teams. If you ask me, they're gonna get mauled by Boise State.

As for South Florida... they come to Rutgers Thursday night, and we have a bit of experience in knocking off top rated teams.

Could easily have a national championship game where NEITHER team is undefeated (and undefeated team(s) on the outside looking in).

Yes, Rutgers occasionally knocks of folks at home but so far this year they haven't been able to beat MARYLAND at home

What's the "real" world again? I don't think I can see it from my window

Yea, you guys got us good... I'm still angry about that game, I mean, when a team throws the ball 4 times IN THE HALF you think you could at least do something about stopping the run. Apparently not.

It was the backup QB curse. Of the 4 games RU has lost in the last 2 years, 3 were to backup QB's.

I have a feeling that's what will happen. I say BC drops to Virginia Tech and South Florida loses at some point (if not at Rutgers), plus I'm pretty sure this is Michigan's year to beat OSU. At that point, it'll be back to LSU and Oklahoma in the championship just like earlier this year.

Just thought I'd reiterate that prophecy.
