intermittent white light problem

Relatively new (one competition) foil w/french tip from AFS has intermittent white light when beating etc. Plugged it into a brand new Favero weapon tester. Instuctions on weapon tester says both lights should go out when point is depressed. Red light glows dim instead. What's wrong with it?
Thanks in advance for your constructive input.

p.s. this is a different weapon/problem than the last time I posted about this topic.

This could be as simple as replacing the spring inside the tip. If it has become weak or bent it may touch the inside of the barrel when you tap the blade on anything giving you a white light.

The spring is one problem but it can also be a loose barrel.

Oh yes, Tim. I forgot that one. But, if it is, be careful when you tighten so you don't break the wire.

With those Favero testers, if you're pressing the tip while you're holding the weapon, sometimes the light glows really dim because your body is making a connection between you're tip and the ground (bell guard/uninsulated grip). The resistance of the human body is really high, so not much current is getting through, so the light glows dimmly. This may or may not be the cause of your dim light on the box.
