The worst sentence in the USFA rulebook

So far, from a mere spelling angle, my choice would be:

"At no time is one allowed to criticize the Officials or thier descisions, to insult them or to attempt to influence them in any way." (t. 82)

Hi!

What about errors not in spelling, but in wording? There are some examples of rules which are not entirely clear if one reads exact what is written, but it works since most involved people know what the rule is intended to state.

They we have the worse cases in which the rule is so badly worded so that it means something, but something else than what was intended.

Are rules subjected to some typographical check by specialists? are they checked by specialists in logic and grammar (for the latter two classes of bad writing)?

Have a nice time!

Huh? Email typos?

Why are you soliciting fish for the FOC? Would it be too much for the editor or his reviewers to just learn to fish and run spellcheck to catch typos?

If you set your spelling dictionary to accept "English spellings for countries that play cricket" you'll quickly errors the likes of:

judget
thouches
thier descisions
fulfil
[t.99] a USFA mever
(USFA Note: The procetures and guidelines
reffer
Furthernore
Articcle
accomodation
accomodation
at at
lampes
USFA Note: absolute discression of the Head Referee
atouch
atouch
total suface area
Guard (touchting with at sabre)

The "USFA mever" has been in the USFA rulebook for years and been mentioned on these forums before. It's astounding that apparently the editor and reviewers have never cared enough to fix it or run spellcheck.

I think they must have dictated the script to Neinteen and let her type it up.

Huh. Having looked at it, I had always assumed that it had been typeset using LaTeX, but it states that it's done in Word XP. At least with LaTeX there'd be an excuse, as there often isn't a spellchecker built in. I also imagine it would have been MUCH easier to format the first time had it been done in TeX.
