dual rated event

Question for those who know: In an event rated A2/B3 (example:67 Fencers: 6A's, 14B's, 12C's, 8D's, 9E's, 18U's, could be a A2/B3 event) is it possible for the winner to earn an A, and the 16th place to earn his D?

Yes.

When an event is an A2/B3 (or any other combo rating) fencers earn the higher rating of the two charts (i.e. winner gets an A and 16th gets a D).

See the event description in the OP. It firts the criteria for an A2. It also fits the criteria for a B3. (incidently it ALSO fits the criteria for an A1, a B2, a B1, a C2, a C1, a D1, and an E1, but those are irrelevant here)

As such the athletes receive the result from their finish in a A2 tournament. They ALSO, simultaneously, receive the result from their finish in a B3 tournament. Whichever is higher will become their new classification unless they already have a classification higher than that.
