I don't know about being short. I know short people that use it with great effectiveness. Height only plays a small role. If someone is short but has good distance control and can parry anything that come there way then they will beat tall people all day if they can't keep up. Skill, not height, decides bouts.

Like people have said, prime is normally and infighting parry though I know people that use it against fleches but in the end they close the distance. A general tip I have found is to try to keep oyur boddy up staight. When you bend your torso I have found that you loose a lot of power from the parry. I don't use it a whole lot but I would suggest talking to your coach or to someone that uses it well.
