    Compressed Air Engine

I was just reading about this and it's one of the coolest things I've seen in a while. I think this kind of technology really has the potential to make a big difference in how we power automobiles, especially if combined with gasoline engines (hybrid), fuel cells, etc.

    Old news to me.

A very interesting concept, though, that I'm trying to keep an eye on.

Did you know that along with the piston version being developed in France, there is a rotary one being developed in Australia?

    Anyway, some more links:
    http://www.theaircar.com/ (the piston one)
    http://www.engineair.com.au/ (the rotary one)

    68 miles per hour?

Isn't the fastest you can ever legally go here 75 on big highways?
So it sounds good to me!

Frequently engines which top out at a particular speed (unless limited by a governor) will have very flat performance at those top speeds, which makes meneuvering difficult. I have a '68 VW bus and it's quite difficult to accellerate and move about in traffic up above 60mph or so. If I just plain floor it I can do 70 on very flat ground. Not a good choice for highway driving, really.

In city driving that might be enough... for example San Francisco. But I'm sure with a hybrid you could do much better, even if they dont improve the tech, which I'm sure they will.
