Array Scoring machine reviews Well, no schematics, but this site gives some reviews/comments on some of the boxes out there.

Of course, Eric might be a little biased since he designed the Eigertek !
Still, the basic conclusions are sound. For a mid- or high- range machine that will be used a lot a tournaments (where a large display is desirable), the SG series boxes are what you get. The new Favero with built-in time and score displays (for about the same as an SG12) does look interesting, though the metal case of the SG would probably stand up to more abuse being carted around to tournaments.
For a budget machine, the Eigertek is my favorite over the Favero 01 because of its compact size and somewhat more robust plastic case (and, given all the hubub over possible FIE rule changes, the free firmware upgrades are good insurance against obsolescence). I don't think anyone would go far wrong with the Favero, though. I have an Amico-- the really compact size is the nicest feature, but it has all the flaws that Eric pointed out. It came out in the US a bit before the Eigertek or Favero boxes, and was a good deal at the time, but has been surpassed. The price is now down to $255 from Fencesmart, though, so if you're on a really tight budget it could be OK.

Armorer
Array Eric is pretty much on target. I perfer the SG 12 myself. Eric makes a nice compact machine that runs well. But and this is just me I don't like the lights on it. But thats me. I recommend them to clubs that on a budget.

Wasn't there some hubbub over the sg 12s lights? About some color film coming off, and about one being made in one country and another in another country? My memory's vague, is this still a problem or is my memory wrong? -
On the revised SG-12 faceplate, the plastic windows over the lightbulbs were glued in place instead of held on with screws-- on some the glue didn't hold very well at first. Pretty simple fix-- just take the faceplate off and glue them back in place with whatever glue or cement you prefer (Duco, hot-melt, etc.).
