The new location is excellent... large and bright with plenty of room. Although with all the competitors this year it will likely be tight again.
It's a great venue. Patten Gym only holds 10 strips, and it's not air conditioned. You should have been their for the Burton when it was close to 90 outside.
The only problem with the SPAC is that in the early morning on Sunny Days, the sun will pour through the windows and hit one of the fencers on a couple of the strips right in the face. Thus my statement - hope for morning clouds. This usually goes away by about 9-9:30 in the morning.

Array I don't recall where now but some place I've been recently they covered the sky lights with paper or tarps. Quite thoughtful. Array Results At the last minute something came up and I couldn't go.
Anyone have results or just interesting goings-on? -

Anyone have results or just interesting goings-on? Bentley won the men's foil. I left before the women's foil completed; so, I don't know the results. Camille Provencal looked very good.

Array Did they do a small prize (a letter opener, I think) for the highest D, E, and U this year? -

It was an unbelievable turnout for the Remenyik. By far the largest ever. Kudos to the staff at Northwestern for a very well run tournament.

Dave I believe I had two teammates earn those then. Congratulations to them. -

Most of the strips were set up to run parallel but two sets of strips were set up perpendicular to the windows and it was really bad at points in the morning and in the afternoon. During those times it made for some of the most unfair fencing conditions that I've ever seen. One woman lost a DE bout 5-0 because her opponent had the sun at her back and (at coach's instruction) hung back on the end of the strip where the other woman was fencing blind. Looked like a blindfolded kid trying to hit a pinata and the woman with the sun at her back won the bout without ever taking a step forward.
Horrible move by the directors and bout committee to use those those strips when plenty of others were open. Similar Threads -
