Array Thanks Ignition! The quality is quite good and the fencing inspiring. Thanks Again. I'm a foil fencer, and I can change, if I have to, I guess. -

Or at the least, set up an archive of LINKS to YouTube, with descriptions thereof. No legalities there! That's it, I'm done with the discussion forums on F.net. It's had its uses, but the ideologues, ranters, and "experts" have drowned too many of the conversations. I'm changing my password to something random and never logging in again. -
More accurately, the legalities are YouTube's problem (not gone), and not yours. -

It doesn't matter how long or short the clip is, or exactly how it got to YouTube. If you taped it off cable, videotaped your TV screen, or downloaded it from some other website, it is still copyrighted, and requires the copyright owner's permission to distribute.
It doesn't matter whether or not you give credit to the owner/author/songwriter—it is still copyrighted.
It doesn't matter that you are not selling the video for money—it is still copyrighted.
It doesn't matter whether or not the video contains a copyright notice—it is still copyrighted.

These youtube videos are ripped vids, and they are illegal. I have no moral objection to the ripping of videos, but I'm not a frickin idiot, and I wouldn't want any part of a lawsuit.
Pay $5 and watch the videos on WCSN. "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. And from this side only! The flight of a half-man, half-bird. Dinosaurs nuzzling their young in pastures where strip malls should be. Cookies on dowels. All those moment, lost in time. Gone, like eggs off a hooker's stomach. Time to die" -Phil Ken Sebben -

I think it would be hard to be blamed for watching a video on YouTube, expecting you to know the copyright status. It's entirely possible and in some cases likely that the material was uploaded with the permission of the copyright holder. However, it's a very different thing to UPLOAD a file, since you should know pretty well if you have rights to distribute the work or not. -

Array Watching the MF videos makes me sad for what has happened to foil since the new timings were introduced. -

Array Wow. The women's foil team match, the final touch (by penalty) to give Poland the win, was amazing. I mean, I've seen much worse covering target, with the mask, where it was not seen or ignored. I thought it was right and took a lot of guts. I'm curious, not being able to understand the German announcer, whether it was explained and whether the vid replay was used to make the call. I'm a foil fencer, and I can change, if I have to, I guess. -
How do you know that it was for covering target and anything without understanding German?

The interesting thing is that Gruchala, had just been carded for something (numerous things going on, so it could have been technical or behavior related) to tie the score with only a few seconds left. The match goes into sudden death with Poland having priority in the last minute. Exciting stuff. I'm a foil fencer, and I can change, if I have to, I guess. -
