    epee tip prob...

so....at a tourney this last weekend, a client came up....his epee would not pass weight.

He has a Zip Tip in an LP barrel....the one with the PTFE coating inside....it just did NOT want to move easily.

I took a -tip with rubbing alcohol and cleaned out the barrel AND the tip....still had teh same issue...it felt gummy.

Put a german tip in and it worked fine & dandy.

What's the deal here that was making the Zip not move easily??? Are the PTFE and the plastic in teh Zip interacting somehow?

uh-oh. That's not good. I was getting ready to buy some zip-tips. Let me know if you resolve that, and what caused it. *please*

plastic on plastic travel is going to be sticky due to adhesive forces. plastic on metal is smooth.
