Did he have to change his sock?
I caught this morning morning’s minion, king-
dom of daylight’s dauphin, dapple-dawn-drawn Falcon, in his riding
Of the rolling level underneath him steady air, and striding
High there, how he rung upon the rein of a wimpling wing
In his ecstasy! then off, off forth on swing,
As a skate’s heel sweeps smooth on a bow-bend: the hurl and gliding
Rebuffed the big wind. My heart in hiding
Stirred for a bird,—the achieve of; the mastery of the thing!

BTW, Hungary just beat France in men's team sabre 45-43.

    Awesome shots! Thanks!

On the shallowest of shallow notes - I think that France's new team colors (complete with flashy socks) may have just replaced China for my favorites. Superheros! No wonder they're doing so well!

That's because their uniforms were designed by Christian Dior :-)
    • Epee is the Louis Vuitton bag of fencing: only the best can get it, and the rest of the masses must content themselves with cheap knockoffs (sabre, foil)
    • To not recognize the power of the French grip is to be in denial

I like the combination of these quotes.

... and you reminded me of an ugly spelling mistake that was in my signature. Thank you!

i actually thought they looked a bit too similar to the chinese uniform (didn't like it too much; still like the team though). i like their '04 olympic uniform the best.

The 04 uniform really didn't do it for me. It was just a knock off of the Adidas stuff. I think this one is much more innovative.

As far as looking like the Chinese, it does, but then again, there is only so much space on a leg / arm to do something neat that looks good on TV.

Just get fencers the size of Justin Meehan. Space problem solved.

All Photos from St. Petersburg Now Posted...

We've now posted more than 1,500 photos on FencingPhotos.com from all events at the St. Petersburg World Championships, including action shots, medal ceremonies, people & places, referees, etc.

    1. Images are organized into categories by weapons and events.

    2. Each image name includes the fencers' names, country, event, and bout.

    3. There's a new option to buy a "commemorative" photo with a souvenir logo, etc.

    4. As always, high-resolution image downloads are available for purchase as well as prints, etc. -- or just take a free tour and view the photos.

    5. In the coming week or two we'll be adding a couple of new specialized galleries as well as slide shows.

    Enjoy!
