The broadcast of the men's saber final on eurosport is just about two hours ago. So perhaps you can watch it on YouTube soon (like the men's foil final).

I paid my $4.95 and have been watching all of the finals. Better quality video than what ends up on youtube.

Or you could wait a month and we'll have the full DVD of it for $29.95.

just watched the foil final... never understood why they put lights in the masks in sabre. what is up with that? now in foil too??? what is the point? they prob just make the mask heavier and add more wires danglin around...

They're part of the "wireless" scoring system (which could more accurately be described as "reel-less" since there is still a body cord connecting the weapon to the scoring module each fencer is carrying and other wires connect the scoring module to the lights inside the mask).

The lights on the mask are the main indicators. The scoring machine and extension lights are merely repeaters that make things more visible for the referee and spectators.

They are LEDs so weight isn't a issue although they could be brighter. To me the wireless transceiver looks like more of a problem. I am sure over time it will get smaller. Also this stuff is not mass produced like cellphones so it is what it is.

I like Poz's 10th touch...sweet. Kinda wish they'd shown it on slo-mo, tho...looked like her went for a counter-parry -- MISSED it because Montano had not actually started his cut -- then Poz followed through and got the touch because his remise was faster than Montano's riposte....GAD, the speed!

Why is that Podzniakov doesn't use any leon Paul equipment despite being sponsored by them and even having his own sabre?!

That was something else...Podz kicking ass and taking names in that one. Montano had a few really nice touches, but that was pretty much Podz all the way.

*shrug* Maybe he doesn't want to be covered in union jacks while representing Russia

I believe only for his blade which I hear is a LM. The Russian team uses Allstar and LM blades.
