    Theme songs

I was wondering if you could somehow you could change the beeping sound the box makes into a song. You could have a chip on your weapon and when you make a succesfull hit the box plays the song instead of beeping. There might be a rule against it but I am sure most fencing coaches wouldnt mind having songs playing at there club instead of beeping. This post was inspired by Redblade on the customizing your blade thread.

The eclipse boxes have an easter egg that plays "Daisy, Daisy," or at least part of it. Think of HAL.

Other than that, you could do it with some good soldering and electrical skills. I don't recommend it, though.

Oh, and yes, it would get damned old very, very fast, at least for me.

The beeping I can tune out. I really don't need the same song segments playing over and over again when I'm there for hours on end.

Eclipse boxes? Which ones are those??? I gotta go dig through our storeroom and see if we have one laying around....

How would one activate this easter egg, once I dig it out of the purgatory that is the supply closet?

I'm thinking Dukes of Hazard General Lee "Dixie" theme song every time I hit you with my epee.

    Interesting idea.
I'd go for MC Hammer's "Can't touch this".

But it would require a lot of work, especially if you wanted to link it to individual weapons. A simple left side/right side difference would be easier. But it would still require a lot of electronic tinkering. And it would get real old real fast.

Bear in mind that Appendix B to the Material Rules includes requirements for the sound signal be identical for both sides in both foil and saber (1.(a)3. and C.(a)3.) so while you might be able to enjoy it in practice it would have to be switched back prior to using the machine in competition for foil and saber. The requirements for épée are more loosely written, so you might be able to get away with that, but I wouldn't count on it.

Perhaps a club box that allows for downloadable "hit tones" (TM)? Give the boxes away for free and make it up in download sales... :)
