| Test Weights Guys/Gals
Over the last couple of years, I have made some unique armorers 3 purpose test weights.
Many of the armorers have asked me to let them know when I have made some of them up.
This is to let them/us/armorers know that I just finished making 7 of them and am about to send them off to Scott Harkey at Sword Masters.
If you want one, you will need to contact him about pricing, shipping and everything else. I just make them.
Notes:
Its called the 9mm series. I use 9mm luger shells on the top, and same for the bullets.
These weights I have set at 751 grams. Reminder, these are armorers weights. We want them at least 1 gram heavy. Just for that ever so happy ref out there with a overly heavy weight. Saves us time.
Here are some pics: http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x...g/DSCN0194.jpg http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x...g/DSCN0195.jpg http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x...g/DSCN0196.jpg http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x...g/DSCN0193.jpg
Reminder: I am not selling these. Sword Masters is.
Happy to answer any questions though.

Gary Spruill | Nice! I think Dan has one of those....but check me....shouldn't the weight be at least 754....one gram over the high leeway??
Also...I've forgotten, but are these a magnetic or press fit connection between teh foil and epee weight ('cause that threaded job on my Uhlmann one is getting irritating)...and is there a hole in the side so I can plug atest lead into it to use as a foil text weight?
If not, let me know when you're going to make one again... |

| I can see now why your fencing bag gets inspected every time. They must create some puzzle looks on the homeland security guys.

| In general, you can't carry a test weight through the "carry on" line. I asked. Specifically.
Every armorers tool box is inspected thoroughly every time we fly. Most fencer bags are inspected every time they fly. |

| Yes, Dan has one.
For some reason, I like the 751, I have yet to have fencer come back and needed a weight spring readjusted with this weight.
This weight is a press fit. "O" ring design.
Sam, the hole on the side is yes for a test lead for a lame test.

Homeland security just loves me. They love me sooooo much that they have to go through all my stuff every time. They even leave me a thank you card everytime with their Homeland Security logo on it letting me know that they went through my stuff. Its such a good warm feeling to know that they like me as much as they do!
The real issues are when you travel overseas. It got real fun in Turkey when the security folks looked at me and stated in broken english "get undressed". There were about 5 of us in a small room about the size 3x4.
Here is a real funny! Going through JFK, had my cloths in one bag and my Universal box with me as carry on. When going through the security line oddly enough of course they wanted to inspect the test box. Heres the funny, the inspector was a fencer! He knew what the box was and what it did. He pulled out my test weight from the box and looked at me and said "This is really cool, I need one of these, can I have it? For the first time I got to look at a Homeland Security person and say these words "Hell No"! The guy smiled, put it back in the box, closed the lid and told me to have a great flight.

Gary Spruill | That box story is better than Dan having all the wires cut on HIS box one time!!! |

Gary Spruill | It would be hilarious if that footage ended up on youTube!!! Did they make you do the hokey-pokey while shouting "Allahu Akbar".
Why does this remind me of that Anthony Bourdain 'No Reservations' episode where he's in a Turkish bathhouse getting abused by his "massage therapist"? It too was in 'broken English'. Ahhh, that's it.
Thank God I suck at this sport such that I can hardly justify traveling to the East Coast... Turkey? Hell no!!!
ROTFLMAO,
Fatfencer
PS: Why do I suddenly feel my crap will never pass again.... |
