I cut apart an old Allstar FIE sabre mask for a strip of mesh to stick into my visor mask, behind the Lexan. Cutting through the Kevlar ( or whatever it was; a yellowish fabric ) layer inside the bib was a *****. I had to pierce it then rip it instead.

Here's a good test.

Stretch taut 800 newton fabric over a thick roast. Plunge knife as hard as you can at fabric. The fabric may not give way but the blunt force trauma will puncture the steak or severely bruise it

Doing it full force, a la fighting and you may just plunge the fabric thru the steak. Kinda depends on the geometry of the knife tip too.
