End of an Era (Robert Jordan)

I would challenge you to a battle of wits, but you appear to be unarmed.

Is it bad that I'm a little upset that he wrote prequels, when he could have finished WOT?

...he's only missing the last book!!!

Aside from my anger and frustration... RIP Robert Jordon. You brought me many hours of enjoyable reading in one of the most believable and complex universes in fantasy literature. a true epic.

There is much angst in our household. We, too, have been great fans from the beginning...but were starting to grow impatient with his inability to bring the massive epic to a conclusion.

We're saddened at his death, and still distraught about the tale never ending.

Wonder if he has a Tolkien-esque son waiting in the wings to finish the manuscript in progress?

for reference, he already has the skeleton of the story on recorded audio, as well as other notes and drafts written down.

the book will get done. might not be quite as good, but i'll get done.

Yeah, I was pretty bummed when I saw the news... he'd been sick for a while.

I seem to recall that inside the book cover, his bio always said something like, "he intends to keep writing until they nail shut his coffin".

    And he did.

I hope he knew how many people enjoyed his stories and took comfort in the fact that he's going to be remembered for a looooooong time because of the astoundingly immersive world that he created and shared.

    RIP Robert Jordan.

Apparently so, heard a story that he sat down with his family and friends and told them all how it finished so the frame of the story is hopefully all there, all we need is a couple of good writers to throw in a few incredibly detailed clothes descriptions and braid tugs. Still gutted that it won't be 100% his work

Truthfully, for a couple years I've been complaining in (more or less) jest how he'll die before he finishes since he wrote that prequel, so we've been slogging through these books for nothing. I can't believe I was right.
