    Blade-Fencing.com?

What does everyone have to say about this company? Personally, I called them up and tried to order some stuff, but you would think that they would hire someone who spoke english to answer the phone? From what i was able to under stand from them, i got them off as well, frankly, mean. I friend in my class said he went to NY and went inside there shop, He said they were extremely rude to him an pretty much ingored him till he whipped out the old gold card. He said if he didn't fall in love with one of the blades they had there, he would of never of gotten it from them. What have your experences with blade been like? Good? Bad? please share :-D <img src="graemlins/dunce.gif" border="0" alt="[Dunce]" />

Did you talk to a guy with a think baltic accent? Could'v been Yefim or Stan (the owner).

I've had my share of bad experiences with Blade, from a vendor's standpoint, but I won't post them here. PM me if you wanna hear.

NNnaaahhhhh...if it was Chinese, you'd be calling Blue Gauntlet.

You think the guy at Blade's hard to talk to? Try talking to Mr. Chen at BG over the phone! Oy!

You folks must not be from the new york area. They are extremely rude even by NY standards... but they do warm up once you prove you are not a total bufoon...or they figure out that you might buy something pricey, and not just a bag of tip screws.

Take a lesson with someone from eastern Europe and the guys at blade will pale in comparison...

My only experience with blade has been thus:
I needed a blade for the sabre I was building, did some research, decided I wanted a felche blade. Blade had an s2000 fleche sabre blade for something like 20 bucks. Im usually really impatient, and order things next day delivery, but it would have cost almost as much as the blade itself.
So I got 3-5 day ground delivery. Received the blade 2 days later. I was stunned, and quite elated.

Never had to deal with them over the phone..

One guy at our insists upon buying from Blade even though they once messed up his lame' order twice. 1 month ago, he broke his brand new Allstar Rainbow Epee blade. He called the next day, sent the blade back since it was still on warranty. He still hasn't seen the replacement.

I find their stuff, other than Allstar, to be cheap and not worth it.

i have had nothing but good experiences with blade. of course, i have never tried to phone in an order, so i can't speak to that. however, i have had good luck with their online ordering, and have always found them pleasant and knowledgeable at competitions.

At competitions Blade can't be beat - Justin knows what he's doing and has a mastery of the English langauge. The people helping out at the booth are also willing and able (although usually not as knowledgeable as Justin). At the storefront/on the phone it's different people who are Eastern European and often hard to understand.

They are one of the best sources for Russian and Ukranian blades, which are often a very good value for the money in my experience. This is mainly what I buy from them (unwired).

I have had a few dicey experiences with them over the phone, everything was worked out to my satisfaction, it just took a while. But at a competition Justin is excellent to deal with. I would recommend to hold off and see Justin at the next large-ish sized competition you see them at. If you need something right away there are much better vendors to call.

Top three crappy places I've ordered from!

1)Fencing-bizhosting.com (crappy webpage and sells on Ebay)
    2)Blue Gauntlet
    3)Blade Fencing

Best places i've had experience with

    1)Santelli
    2)Fencing Post
    3)TCA

However, after doing so, I used the packing materials as tissue because of the prices

However, its all a matter of preference. Im not satisfied with my lame that I purchased from Blade, but they do have some good stuff. Everyone in my opinion has some good points.

Does anyone have any information on whats the BEST and MOST durable Lame I can get?

Im tempted to get the Stretch Inoxidisable Nickel alloy jacket (I think thats what it is)...from TCA. $108.00

    Can anyone advise me?

    Thanks,
    John

Triplette lames also tend to have a very wide, boxy cut to the body, if that matters to you. The kind of lame material used by Triplette has more metal strands/area than the fabric used by Uhlmann, Alllstar, and Santelli, but the metal strands in the german lame fabric seem more robust. So long as you take care of it well, just about any stainless lame (or metallized fabric, in the case of Infinity) should last as well as any other. The only lames I generally advise people to avoid are Russian lames, which typically have a very low density of thin metal strands.

Okay, so where can I get a decent lame. Im currently looking for one which is low maintenance, around 100 - not more then 140.

And of course is of good quality.

Im not looking to fence in big tournaments, atleast not until I get past the minor technicality of being crappy. So all the special super duper options like the can-opener and wine celler, are needed in my lame. Im just looking for one that will be better then my copper one (which is turning green)...and that will last.

Stretch is appealing, and so is the look. Though durability is an issue as well.

Neevel, your mentioning the body cut of the TCA lame's is quite amusing. When I first bought mine a little over two years ago, everyone complained about how loose it was around my waist, nobody could hit me . The funny thing is that my body felt so guilty about having that advantage that it decided to grow a bit around the waist to make it fit
