| The best Epee glove For a french grip epeeist. Any opinions?
I'm looking at one of the following:
1. Santelli 3 Weapon Leather
2. Prieur Epee Leather
3. Estoc Epee Leather
I'm definately not interested in anything synthetic, they have a poor grip on my style of grip. (French w/ tennis wrap)
Any suggestions?

| I use Item number 2 and love it. It's pricey and I wear through the palm near the heel at the little finger due to the pommel I use. However the sleeve is tight and glove fits well. I get an excellent traction which seems to improve with sweating.
Drawbacks? Price (as stated above). Some folks may not like the slit for the wire or lack of velcro closure. There is minimal padding on the glove.
I have tried on the Estoc glove and I'm impressed. I may change at the next glove meltdown. The leather is very nice and there seems to be a bit more padding. It costs less than the Prieur.

| My wife likes the santelli three weapon one.
But I like the look of the Estoc one myself.
I agree that nothing beats good old leather.

| I have one that is synthetic. It pulls on like an Isotoner glove, is very form-fitting, but protective. Plus, I get to wash it every week. (I can't stand stink) |

Who makes it and where did you get it?

| I sell a synthetic glove that's actually better padded than some gloves I've worn, particularly on the back of the hand. I;ve had no complaints about the grip of the material and have been generally pleased with them. Only prob is, I get 'em from out of the country, so the shipping fees are murder, plus I can't exchange one for a different color if someone doesn;t like grey w/red palms. Ah well... |

| Stay away from leather grips. They can barely hold on to the weapon when compared to other materials. I've found that BG's washable gloves hold to the grip very niceley, especially when I tape up the grip, while the leather ones keep slipping.

I'd have to say that a leather grip and a leather glove are without a doubt the best combination for maintaining a grip on a French grip.
Maybe you're using the wrong leather.

| I'm with Diamianip there B&R.
As I said in my original post, I've found that leather gives the very best grip with a French weapon, esp. w/ some kind of wrap or tape.

| I think it really is a matter of taste.
There are some great synthetic gloves out there, and most people use them, yet some people swear by the leather ones.
The trick to having the leather grips grip well, I've heard, is to wet them before putting them on.
Another thing that might be worth for me to say here is that I tried some of the new gloves from uhlmann, called "combination glove "Champion EXTRA" with adhesive surface on the palm for better grip". I bought one of these and within 2 training session it was torn in 2 different places. And I did not notice a better grip than with the regular ubiquitous Uhlmann gloves that I used previously. An opponent of mine had one, and, since we had the same glove size, he let me try it.
I found that it stuck to the weapon better than my old Uhlmann glove but didn't "stick" to my hand all that well. Plus, it seemed that the glove material was much thinner than my old Uhlmann.
I find that once I sweat a little the leather glove sticks to the hand very well. If I wipe my face with the glove occasionally, it wets the outside of the glove enough that I get an outstanding grip on all my French grips (Negrini SchermaSport and Uhlmann leather).
