| Please forgive my naiveness (?) but I am involved in running my very new college fencing club at George Mason. I would very much like to be able to compete in the USACFC competition in april, and I really don't know much about what is involved in getting in this event.
Do you need a full 9 man team? Or could we enter just a 3 man foil team? Or 2 foil teams, 1 mens, 1 womens?
Also, we are on a very low budget, so what would the cost of this event be?
Any help you guys could give would be much appreciated.
Thanks!!

| You can enter any size partial team from 1 fencer on up. You do, however, pay by gender, so a 1-person MF "squad" costs the same as full squads in MF, ME, and MS.
Last year the entry fees were $350 for 1 gender, $500 for both. And, of course, the $50 annual membership fee (for the school, not for each gender).
I believe it's anticipated that entry fees will remain the same for this season.
I'm a former officer of the organization and Wafath is currently the Vice President. MyrddinsPrecint is the person at Smith College (host of this year's event) who's taking point on local organizing issues. PMs to any of us are likely to get answers to any questions you might have.

| No format has been announced, nor any rules regarding partial teams. Most of us are assuming that the format will be substantively similar to last year. This would mean that a one fencer squad could compete, but would be barred from the DE round.
Oiuyt is very slightly high on the costs from last year; it was $50 in dues plus either $300 for one gender and $450 for two. Of course for most teams, the entry fees are a minor part of the total costs of the competition. I believe we spent around $6k for Indiana. You may be able to save money in areas that were not an option to us, but you should make sure you can afford this.

| Travel will likely be a bit less for Northeast schools, for example. |

| And by "local organizing issues", what he really means is "being there when someone tries to cancel the event at least once a week and then a day later saying 'nevermind', and making sure the 'nevermind' always happens"
