A note to tournament organizers about referee compensation

We live in Mtn. Home ID and we are part of Utah and SID division when the have a RYC in Orem Ut they would like Janet And Adelia to referee but in the past they don't what to pay for a Motel Room or travel because they should do it because they in the same division and should do it for free. It over 300 miles down to Orem then the cost of the Motel room and some meals Plus the cost of gas. So Janet and Adelia dont go down.

See, I DON'T have a problem with this.

The organizers set a clear price. It was communicated. The potential officials could then make a decision.

Granted the organizers are being foolish, but that's a topic for a completely different thread -- what are reasonable rates for officials (potentially of various levels and in different environments). That's not the same at all as saying X and meaning Y, which is what this thread is attempting highlight and educate about.

I'm not even complaining that the organizers of a tournament agreed to provide hotel rooms to the staff they brought in, and threw in the extra features of "paid internet access", "carpet that looked like it probably qualified as historical", "adjacent adult entertainment" and "call-girl services available in the lobby".

On August 1st, 2007, the IRS standard business mileage rate was $0.485. That is the rate that the USFA will be paying for 2007-2008.
