Array Los Angeles International tournament this Monday I'm trying to rationalize entering this tournament. They closed my prefered old farts tournament in San Diego, so I'm looking to fence somewhere else. Any one want to talk me into or out of this tournament? If they had epee after the foil, I'd enter both, but not the other way around. I know I'll be sore, if I fence. Any thoughts? -

Array why not?? Come on by... it's always a good time! And the restaurant across the street has pitchers of margaritas so you can forget how sore you are

There's a restaurant across the street?!?!?! I've only ever seen some auto shop looking place. I wanna know where the restaurant is! "Life is like a wheel, where everyone steals, but when we rise, it's like Strawberry Fields." -

Don't try this at home! -

Yeah, I had no idea it was there until a few months ago... it's a little hole-in-the-wall/autoshop mexican place. Fairly decent food and let's face... any alcohol is good alcohol after a tourney.
Um... go out to the main street (Olympic?) and sprint/hobble across four lanes of traffic and you're there. Or drive. It is LA and the place is more than 50 feet away, so you really shouldn't walk... Holy hell, it must be in the grocery market's shopping square thingy, awesome! It looks like it's gotten great reviews, I really HAVE found something to do after the tourney this weekend (And maybe even practice tonight!), YESSSsss-uhhhh! No, it is right across the street at Granville. Bed, Bath and Beyond is on one corner and Tia Juana's is on the other.
The Westside plaza with Good Stuff, the greek restaurant, Italian, sushi, etc. is at Olympic and Bundy. -

Array food review I love it when a fencing tournament review turns into a Restaurant review. I love fencers. They have their priorities in order. -
Lol, restaurant review??? I was just talking about the margharitas! "Life is like a wheel, where everyone steals, but when we rise, it's like Strawberry Fields." -

Array I'm in! ok, the Mexican food place did it. I'm in. See you on Monday. -
As per pre-registration the event ratings are potentially:
Men's Foil, A2
Men's Sabre, A1
Men's Epee, A2
Women's Epee, B1
Women's Foil, E1
Women's Sabre, E1 http://askfred.net/Events/whoIsComin...0b6f66d3a9de93 -

Array Results? So, does anyone know the results for this tournament? I'd like to know how the men's epee event went. - Epee is the Louis Vuitton bag of fencing: only the best can get it, and the rest of the masses must content themselves with cheap knockoffs (sabre, foil)
- To not recognize the power of the French grip is to be in denial
-
For some bizzare reason my shift key has stopped working, and I have to use caps lock and it's really, really annoying me at the moment.
But the results for men's sabre were:
1: Teddy Levitt
2: Jake Mcrae
3T: Ben Cambell
3T: Daniel Lipson
People that got knocked out in the round of eight (that I know of) are:
Kyle Smith
Nick Bartuzik
Apart from that I'm really not all that sure what the results were. -

Eric Hansen beat Jesse Carlson, 15-10 to make it to the gold medal bout, Cooper Gegan beat Mike Raynis, 15-10, or 15-9, I forget. Eric beat Cooper for the gold at la belle on a flesche. There were 37 fencers, total.
Ah, and PS, it was hot.

Apart from that I'm really not all that sure what the results were. Was Arzoian in the top-8 to make it an A1 event? Note that 3rds now only get Cs in an A1 event. Need 25 to make it an A2 and give Bs to the 2nd and 3rds. -
Eric Arzoian did not show up. There were several B fencers that were in the top 8, but the tournament did not have much more than 25 people. I'm pretty sure it was 25 even.
The event in the end was a B2. The people in 3rd place both got C's. I think the only person who actually changed in rating was Daniel Lipson who went from E06->C07. Ben Cambell (I believe) was a C07 and Jake Mcrae was already B06 who I suppose renewed his B(although I am by no means sure) and Teddy was of course an A06. -
