| This is a great event...The USAFA is using askfred! I'm almost speechless.
The Nick Toth has always been a good event in the past, and now with askfred it should be even better. At the very least we will have an idea of who is going to show up.

Did you volunteer to enter the results of the events afterwards, as well? Or will they manage that themselves? |

Well crap! I will have to recant my joy. The USAFA is not using askfred. I guess it is a move in the right direction. We will have to have a tutorial with Coach Salem or one of his cadets so that they can handle this themselves.

I have been refereeing for Coach Salem the last few years and now I'm gonna help him with data and what not. If anyone else needs help let me know. I'll galddly help anyone set up an event.
Nothing worng with helping another club in the RMS out. |

We will be putting up pool and DE Reults after the event.
With the simple features of uploading from askfred I don't know why EVERYONE would not always post the pool adn DE results, now-a-days!
Thanks to Peet for making everything work togeterh so smooth |

| Well the event was great but ARC did have to make some complaints. The refs were good for the most part but there were a few that were not even rated. The strips in the second room were not regulation size (less than 1.5m wide) ARC made complaints about that.
There also seemed to be a lot of the left hand not knowing what the right hand was doing. Example: I was not listed with the correct rating and informed the bout committee well before the start of my event. Event pools are posted and they still do not have my rating correct. I again told the bout committee and they fixed it in the computer. I made the assumption that they would reseed the pools. 10min later get called to my pool and it is STILL not fixed. Ultimately it didn't make much of a difference but it could have and they should have reseeded the pools.
I just really hope they get all of this fixed before the Falcon in December.
Epeeforlife might have some more observations as ARC should too. These are just what I observed. I would like to know how today went since I had to leave yesterday. |

Those certainly add a new dimension of pain and anguish to the sport. |

Those certainly add a new dimension of pain and anguish to the sport. | Without going into too many details and recognizing that there were several good referees present, the cadre for the event did seem a bit on the weak side, and there were occasional problems with an insufficient number of referees available for the events going on, at least on Saturday. There were several referees without referee ratings, and in a couple of instances, it was . . . apparent.
Yes, the other strips were the rubber mats. My issue with them isn't that they aren't 1.5m wide; my issue is that they don't even meet the 1m minimum width approved for local tournaments in the 2006 Ops Manual (they appeared to be 30 in. wide, or about .75m).
All that said, the quality of the fencers present and the fencing therefrom was excellent. I just wish I could say the same about my own performance.

Thanks goes to all those that came up and supported the Air Force Academy. We look forward to seeing everyone at the Falcon during the first weekend of December. Hopefully a lot of you will come compete in the event.

| Thanks for your first-hand account, arc. Nothing to really add to arc's day one observations other than he has always been more diplomatic than I. Sources say day two was much smoother. The smaller foil event was less pressure on everyone and no rubber mats! If arc had been there on day two he would have gotten hungry. The posterior leftovers from day one had unplated themselves and arc would have had to buy his own lunch.
Partial results were up for a bit, but hpfencing used his standard defective keyboard and someone pulled the results. Hopefully they will be available soon.
