| Can you find the best video definition of an attack in foil? I have an experiment/exercise in mind for all you cyberarchaeologists. Much like America's Funniest Home Videos, let's play Fnet's Most Definitive Online Video!
1) Search the web far and wide for a snippet of fencing that you think best defines/shows what an attack looks like.
B) Post it in this thread with your reasoning. I will rep all reasonable entries.
iii) Your forum 'peers' review it.
IV) If necessary, we can have a poll and I'll do my best to obtain more rep points for the winner (begging is a specialty.)

| You assume there is "one" attack. |

| Alright, replace 'attack' with 'establishment and maintainenance of Right of Way until scoring successfully', but I prefer succinctness, generally... |

Or "advanced": http://sports.expertvillage.com/vide...ck-fencing.htm
Bottom clip on this page his a nice attack.
Last clip on this page as well.
And, of course, Romankov's Stuttering Clown attack (and a BUNCH of other nice attack clips) on this page.
Not sure what you mean by "defines/shows what an attack looks like", but these give a number of varieties of nice attacks in different settings.

Actually, it's not what I mean by 'defines/shows', the idea is the forum members - at least those who have the interest to show up and comment - decide what a good example would be for possible inclusion into the wiki.
Now, with three up for viewing, each shows something a bit different. Which offers the most educational 'meat' for the interested but uninitiated viewer? |

| Nice attack from the "Fence!" command in this video at the 1:01 mark.

-B | An overwhelming number of examples, I'd say. That's the trick to this - filtering And defining what the criteria could be. If we have a beginning, it makes it easier to create a meaningful conversation. I think that's part of the issue with a thread like this - the Old Timers know what an attack looks like, so why spend the time on something like this? But really, we're talking about the 'Fonds de Cuisine' - the foundation/bed rock/basis of the sport and if the stock sucks, the sauce sucks - if you cook with garbage, you're still serving garbage... I'm coming to the idea that there should be a collection of snippets, each emphasizing a different aspect. |

What is the envisioned goal of finding a clip (or clips)? It's extraordinarily unclear from the OP.

| Well, that was partly intentional and partly when you keep having the same conversation, but in different places, you forget not everyone knows what you're talking about...anyway I think it would be nice to create a collection of video examples - easily accessible here on fnet - to facilitate possible inclusion in the wiki - as an unofficial resource for the referee inclined. I think there's more than enough brain power and experience to put something useful together, but as always the problem is mostly inertia, so ya gotta start somewhere...and this is where I started.
