Array I heard next year it should be in the bigger gym, so that will be nice. I thought space for gear and getting in and out around the strips was particularly small- but that's pretty small complaint.
A program for Saturday would be nice. I was going to be there for the whole deal, but I did have a friend that was joining me and we weren't sure when everything was happening.
I would say preregistration without having to pay would be nice for next year. From what I've seen, I think people are pretty good about getting on askfred and cancelling if they decide not to come, but I'm sure organizers may have a more accurate opinion. -

The problem is that Chico is not easily accessible by air, so it requires a long drive. That combined with the expense made it difficult to motivate people. -

Yes, the program was a bit confusing. The schedule of events was crammed a third way in the printed program, in the same style as advertisements...
Again, it was there for the events on Saturday during the day and the Sunday events, but I don't recall seeing anything about the Saturday night events in the program (I did just skim through it, so I might have missed them).
It was great having grounded strips on the gym floor (even these two) - just compare to well-regarded (well, not last year, I know) Boardwalk Open on bare gym floor.
Two grounded strips were great, and I was lucky to be one of the ones who got to fence their pool on them. But you can't blame me for asking for more and for the other fencers.
For two days of non-stop refereeing I managed to confiscate only two weapons and give four yellow and two red cards, with almost one appeal. I think that is my absolute all time low. Ever. Fencers are becoming way nice; everyone's weapons are up to regulations; where is this sport going...
If this had been a serious event, you'd have one real appeal :-). And I would have won it: Originally Posted by USFA Rule Book - t.45.2 However, even during the course of a bout, any fencer whose

t.114, t.116 and t.120. Since I wasn't asked if I was ready, and wasn't even asked to come on guard, that yellow card was unjustified. It was even more unjustified because I still do not have the proof the tool that was used to measure the curvature of my blade did in fact measure 1cm.
Oh, the night at the brewery! How about that belly dancing with the sword ballancing on her head? I always somehow knew belly dancers should be intergal part of fencing experience, now I know why . And all that with very good food - not that the roast was not delicious, but that gravy made with their own beer! Oh, my!
Yep, the food was yummy, and the belly dancing was great! - Epee is the Louis Vuitton bag of fencing: only the best can get it, and the rest of the masses must content themselves with cheap knockoffs (sabre, foil)

Oh, thanks forthe reminder - we have the video of the final bout. I'll see if there is a good place to put it online.
That 1 cm was hartd to prove on the spot, but you asked and I told you: Leon Paul combined shim measure 1 cm widthwise from one of the lateral edges to the bottom of the closer edge of the 0.5 mm shim. Once I got you to stop pushing the blade onto the table, the whole shim was able to fit under width-wise, which is the whole inch. Again it was just a warning, and it should not have affected you, but it served your opponents intention. That is all the game
It was one of the better bouts I refereed this year. I salute both of you for the skill! -

Sure, I am all for gamesmanship! I don't think I was that distracted though. I believe Phil would have made a comeback later in the bout regardless. He usually does. If I had been distracted, I wouldn't have been able to come back from the two touches I was down in the last minute of the bout. My analysis of this bout is really that I kept trying to score with this one single action that I usually can do well against him, and didn't change my mind quickly enough when I found I wasn't successful anymore...

Youtube!! I'd love to see that video too, not so much for the call, but mostly to see if my analysis stands to video scrutiny ;-).

Hum, perhaps I wasn't paying enough attention, but I didn't remember that the while shim fit widthwise. I remember that the shim was actually against the blade, which makes it hard to measure that 1cm exactly, since, as you know, epee blades have a triangular section :-).

Thanks! But the year is still young, and I hope you'll get to see better ones! - Epee is the Louis Vuitton bag of fencing: only the best can get it, and the rest of the masses must content themselves with cheap knockoffs (sabre, foil)

I enjoyed watching and/or reffing all of the top eight bouts. I carry one of the little wooden rectangles to test the bend, but as a practical matter, if you can see any bend at all, it's past 1cm. Zorin did a nice job on the finals. Similar Threads -
