    iPhones... any users out there?

So, anyone pick up an iPhone yet?

If so, what do you think of it?

If not... what do you think of it?

My husband found the nearest Apple Store at Nationals and we have had ours since the first day
There are a couple of things that I dont like about it but as a Mac user the calendar, web bookmarks and everything else sync make it a portable office.
I use the web browser (must admit that I use Firefox on my laptop but Safari is fine) all the time and it is so nice to be able to check my mail and not get home to masses of messages to check.
The ipod video has me spoiled with the larger wideangle screen and cannot wait until I can replace my regular video ipod.
SMS is a lot easier after you get used to not being able to text message and it is fun being able to use the 2 megapixel camera which takes great photos and e-mail them immediately. (one of the drawbacks is not being able to send them in text messages to other phones)
My biggest drawbacksurprise is no ringtones. I had a different song for everyone on my verizon razr and there is no way to use your music or buy ringtones for this phone which I think is weird.
The battery power is much better than I expected and all in all I love mine.

750 dollars you mean...you have to pay the monthly service fee for AT&T after all. and yes, you could pay a bit less...but why buy a phone like that and not use it's capabilities?

I've played with one in the ATT store, but it's way overpriced for me. Maybe in 3-4 years.....

Yes, they are expensive. Mine was a guilt gift because my husband wanted one and bought me one as well. But my husband is a day trader (second job) and it is easier than hauling out his computer to check the market while he is on the road (he is a pilot).

Everyone talks about the cost but if you add it all up the iphone is not any more expensive than:

cell phone 100.00 -200.00 if you want the fun phone

    palm t/x handheld 299.00

8 gig nano 249.00 (this does not play videos)

total 648.00 - 748.00 and you dont even have true web browsing capability.

No, they are not for everyone and they are not just another cell phone but for some people they are worth the price.

I'm waiting for more HD space. I have more than the capacity in music, let alone videos (which also exceed capacity).

I want a full replacement for my iPod, not a quarter of my iPod that does phone calls.

    .
Great...NOW when I fly I have to worry that my pilot is just as worried about a stock market crash as he is about a plane crash..

You can get a phone for about $300-400 that does everything the iPhone does...but doesn't have a touch screen. Doubling up with a palm T|X and a nano? the palm plays mp3s.

    That was very funny

I did ask him one time about whether he read, slept, and or watched his ipod while flying and I am pretty sure he said "not usually...."

Yeah, i got one a few weeks ago and it's sweeeeeeet!

It has drawbacks like any other device, and it is pretty spendy, but it's just soooo damn cool, it'd pretty much have to give me electric shocks every time I try to make a call for me to be unhappy....

The touch interface is really great, I can type on it pretty quickly (once I started to really trust the autocorrection).

I don't mind not having my entire music collection on it (I never did that with my ipod either, it being a nano).

Anyone wanting to get around some of Apple's limitations should look here. There is a software hack that involves only a tiny bit of command line activity, and provides a way to install lots of packages over the network (edge, wifi) onto the phone. I currently have a couple games, a utility that lets me use any song in the library as a ringtone, and....

Terminal and SSH so that I can log into and administer my web servers from my freakin' phone!

    How cool is that!
