    olympics 08

    hi,

sorry if I seem a little clueless...but do we know who is going to represent the US in the 08 Olympics for fencing?
If no, when is it revealed...
If yes then where can i find this info...
im particularly interested in finding out who's competing in indiv. mens foil

im not really familiar with the whole Olympic qualification process, etc.
if anyone wants to explain that would be awesome

    thanks!

We'll be able to tell you in about 7 months. Competitive results until then will play a large determining roll over who is qualified.

Craig posted an article about the paths on the main part of the site. I'd suggest going and reading it if you want to know how it works.

The 2008 U.S. Olympic fencing team will be formally announced at the Portland NAC in April.

Don't you mean the Division I National Championships?

It will be interesting to see if that tournament affects the outcome.

It did last time, at least for the final (alternate) slot on MF. I know MS had previously been locked. WS and WF didn't use US rankings so were locked. Don't remember about M/WE. The top 3 positions in MF were locked.

I remember that one. Tiomkin, Dupree and Kellner were locked. They were in the top-8 with Schibilia (I believe). The other four were Greg Chang, Gabe Sinkin, Gerberman and Kurt Getz. Greg had Schibilia and the others were fed to the wolves. Greg's win got him to Athens.
