New in Sacramento area

Hi there,
I started fencing foil down in southern California at Fortune Fencing in Pasadena, CA last year, but recently relocated to Sacramento. I'm wonder if people have recommendations for a fencing gym with foil classes in the area.

Davis is a possible option although it would be 30+ miles for me.

Sacramento Fencing Club seems to have a little more emphasis on saber although I am basing that just on the little website information I've seen.

Hristov Fencing Club is one other I've seen although I don't have much information about it at all.

Thanks!

Well,

It seems that sacramento is a very saber heavy community. SacFencing is more or less a saber only club (AFIK, i haven't been over there recently), and I know that Hristov Fencing club is also Saber heavy (though I have no idea if Kristiyan coaches other weapons).

National Fencing Centers Carmichael, is also saber heavy, the head coach is a saberist, but I know that he coaches other weapons (and one of their students was 2nd in Y10 girls epee at Nationals). I also know that all the group classes up there are in foil, and that there are group classes for adults.

Davis is a bit of a drive for you, but we're primarilly a foil/epee club, but don't have group classes for specifically for adults. Dick Berry, one of our coaches teaches an informal adult class Mon-Thurs from 4-5 if there's interest.

If you're looking for beginner/intermediate foil classes, we (Davis/Carmichael) run a group class through the Elk Grove CSD, it's aimed at kids and teens, but we/I've had adults in there before.

**If you haven't figured it out yet, I work for Davis Fencing Academy/National Fencing Centers (bad name, I know, i didn't make it). I also used to teach the Group classes out in elk grove, and I might be back in the fall... don't know yet.
