    Negrini?

Ok, with all the threads going on about LP, Uhlmann, Allstar, and FWF.

    what about Negrini?
    what is Negrini?
    where is it made?
what is it's quality vs. other brands?
    price?
    what items do they offer?

Negrini is an Italian manufacturer...one of the majors

    Quality..I'll deal with masks,m since that's what I've seen...the FIE masks are good...shape's a little odd, tho.

Non-FIEs had some bad problems with soft mesh a few years back....they've fixed it, but I know at least one coach out here who will not touch Negrini non-FIE masks for this reason.

Price...a bit expensive...and every time the Euro burps, prices change.

The offer a full line of everything.

They are a long-time family-owned business from Verona, Italy. They man to be, try to be, among the top for general quality and finish. If something is generically wrong with one of their products, try making it known to them directly -- they will try to fix it.

(Full disclosure notice -- they bought be dinner in Verona once, a long, long time ago.)

I think Negrini's best reputation lies in their bodycords. They're wound steel and soldered to the posts. A bit of a pain to work on, but you rarely need to as they're usually soldered well, and the steel wire pretty much is a tank.

Also, they have the original foil connection system, which is the Italian bayonet. Considered by many to be the most reliable and robust. The rumor is that a Paul saw the Italian bayonet, went home, and designed his own based off it from memory, and so became the LP bayonet.

So, Negrini is generally overpriced (IMO), but their $50 bodycords are worth it provided you are willing to drop that much on them. Although I must say I don't have much experience outside of their BCs

Their FIE jackets are really comfy and generally durable. I own the foil lame they produce and it's held up perfectly for the past 7-8 months of heavy use. It is, once again, very comfy.

They are expensive though. I would reccomend at least their uniform and lames, no experience with helmets. Our armorer swears by Negrini bodycords, so they seem to be worth the cost.

I love them... You can buy direct and save some, but unfortantely customs can get you and add to the cost. Also, they only ship international Fedex, which is not the cheapest thing.

I have their FIE uniform (the cut on them is super) and mask, which are great... and for me, their leather gloves are the best.

I've gotta check out their body cords...

Their masks are OK though personally I prefer LP.
Their body cords are the best I've seen.
No experience with their other gear.

    Totally seconded.

Their FIE uniform really stretches. FIE plastron and uniform are very comfortable to wear. And their socks is the best socks I've seen.

I prefer the Negrini visconti pistol grip handle. It has a better fit for me than any other I've tried. I've never tried a Zivkovik. It's more expensive than most, but worth it to me.

I just got a Negrini FIE stretch uniform. It is VERY comfortable. I haven't decided if I like it better than my previous Leon Paul uniform or not yet, though. It is more comfortable than the LP, and stretches with my movement, but I think the LP may be just a tiny bit more well-made. Time will tell.

A few years ago, I had a Negrini mask (non-FIE) and it was a PIECE OF GARBAGE. Like Purple said, the mesh was extremely soft, and was damaged easily with bends and dents. It also rusted very quickly, despite the fact that I take very good care of my gear. The FIE masks may be well made, but I will never know. I am married to Leon Paul masks now.

The best, but expensive. They also make the best Russian handle I've seen -- amusing, no?
