| Veterans Fencing in San Diego in September I got this off the PCS website: The competition will be held on September 15-16, 2007 at the San Diego Fencing Center, a state-of-the-art new facility in Escondido, California, with permanent grounded strips. Fencers from all over the US who meet the age requirements are eligible to compete.
There is an interest to have fencing included in 2008 when the Senior Olympics will be in San Diego, if the 2007 tournament works out.
But I've not been able to find any information about costs, registration, or close of entry. Anyone know the details?
thanks

| Saul, from the Fencing Post has the information. The fencing is part of the annual Sr Games held in San Diego. |

| actual dates the actual dates are September 15 and 16. As I understand it, they just copied last years agenda (they had to cancel it last year), and forgot to change the dates.
Hope we have enough this year. I've entered foil & epee.

| "Fencers from all over the US"...but not the ones who will be at the Vet Worlds during those same dates.
Scheduling error, what?

| Let's enter this! It's a little expensive, but how many Veteran Tournaments do we have in Southern Califonia? The facility is first class and the strips are grounded. Come on down! Enter by August 25, or it might be cancelled again.

| Perhaps, you might need to check out the demographics of Veterans. In general, the active membership of USFA shows that there are more 40-49 Vets than 50-59, which also are more than those in the 60+ bracket. The participation in NACs/SNs is also the same way. If it wasn't viable before with 50+, a logical step is to expand eligibility.

As I understand it, this is part of the San Diego Senior Games. There are lots of different venues (golf, running, swimming, etc) and the common thread is everyone must be over 50. They also try to have a 5 year increment (50-55, 56-60, etc). I'm sure they could get more people if they opened it up, but it's their rules. Thanks for moving this to the top.
I'm trying to drag out some of my old fencing nemeses'

| Do you know if there is some site where we can see what ongoing registration is like? I would go if the tournament was large enough (i.e. at least 15 people).
thanks |

| i´m about 30 something years too young to be in this tournament, but for those not sure if they want to pay the money, you definitely should. i train at saul´s club frequently, and it is one of the nicest facilities in the country, easily. definitely worth the extra money to fence in a brand new shiny air conditioned grounded strip widescreen tv sporting facility. i hope lots of people show up! |

| Where do we find out about who's pre-registered? It would be good to know what kind of turnout they have before I buy a plane ticket. |
