From what I recall hearing, doing some glove lunging drills, and he stepped on something or someone's foot or something like that, and slipped. That may or may not be the correct story though. *shrug*

He was playing a "glove game" with a pentathlete and dropped into a split (which he normally is incapable of doing). The ligament separated from the bone which was why it was such a serious injury.
