I'm all for wearing protective gear during warm up bouting and lessons. See...that's a prob men don;t have generally. If a woman goes to the hospital for something and the staff sees a line of epee bruises, they're likely to ask you if everything's OK at home.
And if you and your child fence and you go to the hospital, make sure your kid doesn;t say YOU gave him the bruising or they'll call security! -

I know I'm not the only woman who gets questions or raised eyebrows during her annual exam (or any doctor visit where the upper body is examined) because of the bruises. Similar Threads -
