| Depends on what you're looking for. The Fechter has a good deal more cushioning and support that previous fencing shoes designs, at the expense of being heavier and having a somewhat higher sole-- the Adistar and D'Artagnan models adhere to the more usual philosophy of making fencing shoes as light and low-soled as possible. I do notice the difference in weight between the Fechter and my grey/black Adistars, but the Fechter is more comfortable over a full day of fencing due to the better support.
The soles of the Fechters are also of a slightly harder compound that should hold up better on metal pistes, but gives a bit less grip on smooth or dusty surfaces.
