| Dinamo Maraging Does anyone have any experience with the Dinamo maraging foil blades TCA is selling. A search turned up some stuff on the epee blades and plenty on the non-FIE. I recall reading in one of these threads that they are really just StM.
I'd be grateful for any info anybody has on them. |

| I still have some three Dinamo 2000 non-FIE foil blades. They were used regularly until 2004, and once every few months since then. They seem ok to me.

| My favorite foil blade of all time was my 1995 Dinamo Maraging. Great balance, flicked just right, slightly rounded edges.
Overall, a great feeling blade. Too bad they don't feel the same anymore.

| That's a rather vague issue, as far as I know. StM is Ukranian, and I'm not sure if Dinamo is actual Russian or what. |

| Something in the back of my head keeps telling me that Dinamo is made at the STM factory. Quote:

I've heard that they're the same thing, made at the same factory, made in the same city, or owned by the same company.
Either way: http://www.stm-fencing.com/index.php...d=80&Itemid=35
But it does raise the question, why announce it if they were always the same? |

| ehhh a little birdie told me that Dinamo is made in Moscow or Lugansk, however, they recently had some problems and now are having their blades (only the epee so far...or so I've heard) made at StM's forges....other than that...I am pretty sure they're not the same though...

| My coach says that they're Russian. In any case, I ordered a Dinamo epee blade and should have it by the end of the week.

edit: I went through the web site where the history for the company is "The Joint Stock Company "Metal Works Plant "DYNAMO" is one of the oldest plants in Ukraine and the largest producer of fencing weapon in the world. Its history began in 1949 " and I was wrong..it is Ukranian..

| OK, anybody have some comparisions (weight, feel, flex, etc.) on the STM's two FIE offerings (one is designated as "N", which I think is the non-maraging one.)? Are they very different animals?

| Well, given they're made of very different steels. From what I've heard, the Ns are a lot closer to regular blades. |

The N's don't hold up as well. If you're going to pay for FIE, pay for maraging. (Said by someone who sells both types, but the feedback I've received hasn't been as good for the "N" blades.)

Craig | Agreed. Had a FIE-N blade once and it's (IMO) definitely not as good as the Maraging one. Much too whippy for my taste.
