This is an excellent article. One thing I would note is that coaches feel a lot of the same tension; I have often said that when watching my students fence I want to say "Give me the weapon! I can do it!"

I also think it points out the need for clearly defined roles in an athlete's support staff; coaches and parents have different jobs, and while there is some overlap, they should generally not attempt to do the job of the other side, IMO.
