Golubitsky

I´ve heard that Golubitsky was famous not only because he won many medals but also for his "dramatic fencing style".Can someone explain what this is or post a link to a video of him competing?

Guess I'm just too witty and charming for my own good; the ladies can never rep me often enough...

But sir, I thought a semicolon was only used to join two related independent clauses, not to introduce an adverbial phrase. Please clear this up. I want to improve.

Don't give up on me, sir.

Golubitsky stopped fencing due to a variety of injuries, and he says in his book that he just was tired of competing. He had knee problems, ankle problems, and an elbow problem. He pretty much fell apart physically in the end.

He lost the bout soundly after he switched, but he scored four touches. More importantly, he was a good showman while doing it.

You can see the bout at the end of one of his DVDs, "Once Upon a Time."

I also heard somewhere that Golubitsky smokes like a chimney. It's unfounded, but that's just what I heard.

He does (did?) smoke. Not like a chimney, but frequently enough for a typical European.

The guy that told me said he was in a competition overseas. He said Golubitsky was a coach/ref, and that every time he was to ref a bout, nobody could find him. He said that he was out smoking between every bout.
