Fencing Bibliography

This is an attempt to start a serious ongoing bibliographic thread on fencing and related material in sports medicine. There is, as far as I can see, no existing thread of this type at fencing.net. I'll begin with the bibliographic entry below. Hopefully this may prove interesting to some of you.

Williams, L.R.T., & Walmsley, A. (2000). Response timing and muscular coordination in fencing: A comparison of elite and novice fencers, Journal of Science and Medicine in Sport 3 (4): 460-475.

Google Scholar search.

And from that search:

Oooof.

Jason - Thanks for mentioning Henk Pardoel's Fencing. A Bibliography. It represents an important scholarly contribution to the field (now in its second edition I believe). I have considered the possibility of raising some funds to compile a modest collection of books and DVDs for our local club. If it is at all possible I would like to add this to the collection.

Are you looking at putting together a bibliography of current sports medicine articles related to fencing or entries of currently published books, or what?

Pardoel's work is quite useful in it's coverage of historical manuscripts and many books published up to 2000, which I believe was his cutoff date for the 2nd edition. For example, his list contains few if any of the books from SKA Swordplay.

As for myself, I'm trying to sort out my current library to make room for a few more books...

Both really. Since much of the historic material can be sought out in texts by Pardoel, Gaugler, et. al., my initial thought was to focus on material dealing with current issues related to fencing. Research in sports medicine is certainly one area that I believe will be of interest but I imagine there may be useful articles on coaching methods, training, etc., that members might want to share with others.
