| Weapon importance Do you think that nowadays one weapon(either epee, foil or sabre) gets more media coverage than any other or do they give each one the exact amount to make it even? |

| I'll agree with that. Saber was the only nationally televised weapon in the 2004 Olympics. Not sure why... while it was so cool to watch (me being a non-fencer at the time) I had NO idea what was going on! All I knew was they were throwing themselves at eachother. Epee would have been far easier to grasp for non-fencers (but probably would have lost the audience).

But since we did so well, fencing actually made it to nbc proper, although significantly less time.
(edit: and by "we", I mean USA women's sabre.)

| So do you think fencing is doomed to stay this way or could it change in the future due to some events? |

| i agree..... adding the visors to give a human face to the sport is smart-but unnecessary... why? i can't explain right now.. it's 1 in the morning and i can't put all my thoughts down... remind me to explain my thoughts at a later time... |

| I think there has been significant progress. Recently you've had some law firm commercials with Fencing, NCAA made a fencing commercial, and of course there was the commercial with the guys fencing with fish from the superbowl (I think that's where it was from... I didn't like it but it was something). But you're right, I think more promoting is necessary. I mean seriously... ESPN shows Darts, Curling, and the Spelling Bee, why not fencing???

its been part of every modern olympic games since the beginning,
wheres the respect!
oh yea and i heard the visors on saber masks can fog up, distort your view, and they scratch up (also look kinda silly, see hazmat suit) |
