Fencing in England???

Does anyone have any recommendations about the "best" training in England, and/or ideas on how to find this out? We may be moving there in the not too distant future and I wanted to check this out.

Depends which weapon do you fence and where abouts are you likley to be going.

Your best first stop would be British Fencing www.britishfencing.com/ .

Fencing in England???

Well, it is for my son and he mainly fences foil although he competes a little in epee as well. As to where in England, we are not sure yet. What clubs in the country stand out as a whole? And thanks for the link. I am checking it out as well.

London has some very good foil clubs and excellent coaches of which Salle Paul and Salle Boston (foil) are probably the best in terms of training and competitive success.
Epee not really my thing but Haverstock or London Thames fencing club would be worth checking out.

penfold will become famous soon enough
there are definately lots of good clubs in England.. and Scotland and Wales!

contact the BFA- lots of clubs listed on the website.. mine is a good friendly club... there are also some excellent training camps, both Haverstock and Millifield run good ones. I went to the Whitgift training camp at christmas and had a great time even if I was one of the oldest fencers there!

Your best bet is to join the LP Fencing Forum at www.fencingforum.com and post your question there - lots of well informed people around.

In short:
Foil: Salle Paul, Salle Boston, Sussex House - all London
Manchester Fencing Club, Salle Kiss - Manchester (come say hi if you turn up...)
Birmingham Fencing Club in (oddly) Birmingham
Edinburgh Fencing Club in (wow) Edinburgh, please note this isn't in England!

Epee:
Haverstock, London Thames, 126 in London
Reading
Edinburgh
Northumbria Uni in Newcastle is excellent and may let non-students fence
