The new LP sabre glove

Despite DHC's helpful advice, my cuff can't be brought back from the dead, and my current glove has an ever-widening hole in the thumb. Not so good. I see that Leon Paul has a spiffy new sabre glove that's supposed to fit as well as a normal one, but I also see it's 50 dollars. I've never actually dealt with LP before, so I don't know anything about the quality of their stuff. Can somebody tell me if it's worth plunking down that much money for this glove? Also, I assume I'd have to hand-wash the thing, yes?

Have it. Love it.

Those who fence sabre more often than I do also love it.

It doesn't have to be hand-washed, it can be machine-washed as long as you don't use detergent; so I can toss my Absolute sabre lame in with the LP glove, and then hang them to dry. Great stuff.

Thanks, Darius. Maybe I can swindle my parents into grabbing it as part of my birthday present...if not, well, what's 50 dollars in the name of some halfway decent stuff?

See you and your guys next week.

Its the best of its type I have used. Due to the "stretch" lame fabric it is made with, it fits like a normal glove cuff instead of the "poofy" ribbed style that a lot of other all in one gloves have. Plus the fact that it is CEN 1 certified and the washability benefits mentioned before makes it worth the money IMHO.

As to other all in one gloves to look at, I know that Purple from HOM fencing is working on a super safe and padded all in one glove but I am not sure if it is available yet. Failing that I would go with the Uhlmann glove, but I think the fit and benefits of the LP are better. Cheaper to IIRC...

Thanks! The Armor Two-s will be basically the Armor Two glove with the addition of lame to the current cuff and closure.

I ran into a minor problem on the last prototypes...the glove closes fine...except for the gap that doesn't allow all the velcro to be covered (I'd forgotten to account for the extra layer of material from the lame....DOH!).

I've decided on the fix, but haven't had a final proto made up yet.

I actually emailed Welted about this...had he not needed a glove for nats (and if he'd been able to confirm his was a RH 8.5), I was going to alter my last sample to be legal...no time, tho.
